Hidden Gems

Check out the Huffington Post for a quick look at "The Top Ten Best National Parks You Don't Know About." Learn about a new place and vote for your favorite.

WV runs trips in four of the parks listed: Acadia, Olympic, Glacier, and Haleakala.

What's missing from this list? And what are "The Top Ten Best National Forests & Wilderness Areas You Don't Know About?"

I'd put Idaho's Sawtooth Wilderness and Virginia's Washington & Jefferson National Forest (complete with its herds of "wild" ponies) near the top. How 'bout you?

I second the Sawtooths as one of the nation's best forests, but also up there are the forests in the Mt Hood Wilderness in Oregon (close enough to Portland for day hikes) and the Frank Church Wilderness north of the Sawtooths.
